Travel & places to stay

Afton is in the northeast corner of Tennessee, between Greeneville and Johnson City. If you’re flying, Tri-Cities is the easiest airport. The other two have more flights, but the drive is longer.

What should I wear?

We’ll include the dress code with the invitation.

What will the weather be like?

Early October in East Tennessee is usually lovely, with afternoons in the upper 60s to low 70s. It can dip into the 40s after dark, so bring a layer for the evening. The ceremony is on the grass, so block heels or flats will be much easier than stilettos.

Can I bring a date?

Your invitation will list everyone who’s invited. If you have questions about it, just reach out to us.

Are kids invited?

We love your little ones, but our wedding is an adults-only celebration. We hope it’s a fun night out for you!

Where do I park?

There’s parking right at the venue, and an attendant will be there to point you in the right direction.

What if it rains?

Rain or shine, it’s happening! If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the ceremony moves inside the manor house.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

We’re having an unplugged ceremony, so please keep phones and cameras put away until we’ve walked back down the aisle. Our photographer will capture every moment, and we’ll share the photos with you. After that, snap away!

Will there be a bar?

Yes, it’s an open bar, so drinks are on us. Please don’t bring your own; the venue requires all drinks to be served by the bartenders.

What time does the party end?

The celebration wraps up around 9 PM.

How do I get home?

Please plan your ride before the party starts. Uber and Lyft can be hard to find out in Afton late at night, so line up a designated driver or a ride ahead of time. Cars can’t be left at the venue overnight.

What can we throw at the send-off?

Please leave the confetti, rice, birdseed and flower petals at home, since the venue doesn’t allow them. We’ll let you know closer to the day what the send-off will be.

Can I smoke?

Outside only, in the spots set up for it.

Can I bring my dog?

We love them too, but pets can’t come to the venue.

I have a dietary need or allergy.

Tell us when you RSVP. There’s a spot for it on the form.

I have mobility needs.

Let us know and we’ll make sure you have an easy path and a good seat.
